Coiled-rope coasters are easy to make, neutral colors or fun colored cord adds visual interest to your decor. Make a dozen for a themed party or for everyday use around the house. This project uses a simple and straightforward technique. Just form a length of rope into a coil and glue it in place. You can use this method to cover a variety of items, round objects work best as they allow for even coils.
PROJECT SUPPLIES: Use 9 feet (274cm) of 3ply 3mm cord for each 4-inch coaster. 4-inch round cork coaster. Glue gun. You can find all these supplies in Hobby Lobby or any craft store.
HOW TO: Take one end of the cord and make a loop forming a coil to form the middle of the coaster. Apply glue in the center of the round cork (Glue gun is very hot so you need to be careful) and place formed coil in the center. Continue glueing and coiling to cover round cork. Cut any excess cord and glue the end in place.
