Now that the holidays are over it’s time to hit the refresh button and start the new year fresh.
Each year on December 26th I get an urged feeling to put all Christmas decor away, clean the house and start new on New Year’s Day.
There’s something so refreshing about starting the new year with a clean slate. Wintertime forces us to slow down and stay more indoors. For me, I use this season to organize and enjoy my time at home feeling cozy and refresh.

I love bringing neutral colors and texture to our winter decor at home. Makes the house feels cozy and uncluttered from the holiday decor. The entryway is the opening to our home, is the first impression you give to your friends and family visiting. Nothing says welcome to my home like an entryway. So for me this entryway gets special attention. Warm and welcoming are ways to express hospitality to a room. This black bench is actually an antique store find, we loved it at first sight and it’s been with us for a few years now. It fits perfect under the stairs and sturdy enough to sit two people comfortable for putting shoes on. The basket gives the space texture and the olive stems are great to bring some greenery into your winter decor. Gotta mention the snowflake garland to reminds us we are still in winter season, my kids love little things like that.
My entryway is long so I need to divided in two section. I try to avoid clutter when decorating an entryway console table. It’s ready to catch keys or a cup of coffee on your way out. Fortunately this table has drawers where you can hide keys, wallets or other necessities. A wall mirror, for a last minute glimpse, or a framed art can also work on a entryway above a slim console table; this mirror is from Perú, it was a wedding gift from my grandma 22 years ago. It’s a handmade piece made by Peruvian artisans, not only beautiful but with a lot of sentimental value.
In conclusion, low profile furniture to boost style and function without over decorating are the perfect combination for a welcoming entryway this winter.
Let me know your thoughts and how you style your entryway.
