Yarn pumpkins are so easy, fun and inexpensive to make! If you want to add texture and color to your home decor this fall season then you must try this cute pumpkin craft!
Gather all your supplies (links below) and have fun!
- Chunky yarn (I used oatmeal, mustard and pumpkin colors)
- White foam balls 4inch or any size you want.
- Scissors (this one is my favorite for yarn, rope, etc shop here)
- Glue gun
- Plastic yarn needles, long plastic yarn needle, or Long metal weaving needle this is the one I used!
- Serrated knife or bread knife.
- Wood chips or thin small branch from your backyard.
Use a serrated knife to cut each side of the foam ball flat, cut a larger piece off of the bottom and a smaller piece off of the top. This way it will look more like a pumpkin shape.
Create a hole in the middle of your foam, I used the same knife to create the hole (see picture below) now you are ready to add the yarn.
String one big piece of yarn through the needle but don’t tie it, feed the needle through the center hole of the foam leaving a small tail, then wrap the yarn back up over the small tail to hold it in place, continue wrapping the foam through the center hole again and again, repeat this process until you have a little of yarn left, tuck the end under the previous row to secure. Repeat the process again with another new piece of yarn and until you completely cover the foam with yarn.
Attach the wood chip or small branch to the yarn ball to create the stem of the pumpkin. Press the stem into the center of the pumpkin, you could use the hot glue to secure the stem in place.
I love this project and how beautiful they look! If you love fall decor and try this craft please let me know in the comments below!
