DIY renovations are not easy, this right here was not an easy job, as you can see by looking at the pictures, my husband and I (well my husband mostly) removed everything, a completely gutted project. Demolition day took more than a day! Weeks! By the time we took all the garbage out it was close to a month, now we had a completely empty room to start working. This project as I mention before was done by us. my husband works full time plus he does a lot of sports with our kids. It would’ve certainly been done faster by a full time professional but we decided to do it ourselves. We saved soooo much money this way and the attention to detail was priceless!!!!
Our master bathroom before had one drain sink vanity, a huge mirror on top, a large 4 person whirlpool tub and a small plastic shower for a small person, practically the whirlpool tub took most of the space in our master bathroom, a linen closet, and the toilet drain which was the only thing we did not move..
As you can see in the pictures below there was a wall between the whirlpool tub and the shower. We removed the shower pan, acrylic walls, and left with the exposed plumbing. My husband removed all and did a completely different layout of the plumbing and breathing pipes on the opposite side where the the shower heads are going to be.
This is where the whirlpool was, we removed all the previous plumbing and reconstructed a new one for the new free standing tub we will be using. On the next wall he converted the plumbing pipes from one drain to two drains to accommodate two sinks for the new vanity. Also adding more breathing pipes. Do you see the sketches on the wall?
We water proofed the shower floor and walls. Now its ready for the new tile! Check my next blog post where I will reveal the second part of this project and probably the final one. So stay tuned by subscribing to my blog! If you have any questions don’t hesitate to write them in the comments below. Thank you!
